The Fish
| On the Kanektok River, timing is everything. Early
is prime for Kings, mid-season offers an excellent
chance for a grand slam (all five salmon species) and
later the rivers are load with Silver and the trout turn
into pigs. The Rainbows, Dollies and Grayling are always
here...and always hungry. Toss in extended runs of
Sockeye, Chums and Pinks throughout the season and
you're guaranteed to have your hands full. |

Our Boats
Our boats are 16 to 18 foot flat-bottomed john boats and
are powered by 40 HP jet pumps. They are equipped with
bow and stern anchors, two swivel seats and life
jackets. A cooler is on board to store lunches and
drinks.
Our jet boats are used in several different ways. While fishing for
salmon you might fish from the boat. Anchoring up and
swinging or stripping flies can be very effective. Back
trolling plugs or spin 'n' glos for kings is deadly.
Fishing for trout can be done from our boats as well.
While your guide rows you down river
'drift boat style' and you cast while floating. This
method is a wonderful way to see the river and cover
lots of water.
While fishing from the boat is fun, most anglers also
like to fish from the wading-friendly gravel bars.
This is where the jet boat shines! We can run over very
shallow water and get you to many small side channels
that can be hiked up and fished from shore with your
guide.

The Camp
|
At Fish Hawk Adventures we run a deluxe tent lodge.
What does that mean? Anglers will sleep in tents. Our
Dining tent gives you plenty of room to spread out and
enjoy your evening. Our gear tent is heated so you will
find your fishing attire warm and dry for you in the
morning to start your day battling fish in comfort.
We provide hot showers and our outhouse facility are
cleaned and emptied daily.
If you are looking for a lodge, or white tablecloths you
should look elsewhere. If you are looking for a
comfortable camp to spend a week enjoying some of the
best fishing in the world you have came to the right
place.
|
Your Day
|
Our typical day starts at 6:00 AM with a buffet-style
breakfast. Fixings are put out for you build yourself a
custom-made lunch, or with our camp being located right
in the heart of the fishing grounds you may choose to
come back to camp for a hot lunch and to warm up.
Your guide and boat will be ready to leave the beach at
7:00 AM and will be at your service until 5:00 PM, when
all boats are due back to camp. This is a long day of
fishing! Your day on the river will be spent wading,
fishing 'drift boat style' from your boat, walking up
narrow braids, and/or fishing from an anchored boat, all
depending on your preferences, the species you're
pursuing and the river conditions.
